Last year, Swayangsiddha Initiative reached out to 21369 students and 1000 teachers across Joynagar-I, Joynagar-II, Magrahat-I, Falta, Kakdwip and Patharpratima blocks of South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. 201 Swayangsiddha Groups were formed. Now, the initiative will extend to the blocks of Baruipur, Magrahat-II, Canning-II, Kulpi, Basanti and Gosaba. Outreach programmes will be conducted in 190 schools and colleges across the 6 new blocks, starting from 02 July, 2018. The Groups will be encouraged to raise their voice against human trafficking and child marriage through various activities. They will also identify dropout students and at-risk children/family with the help of BLCPC/VLCPC members in their locality. Orientation programmes with teachers and capacity building workshops with NGOs have already been completed in the respective blocks.
Outreach programmes will be conducted from 02 July till 15 September, 2018 starting from Baruipur to Magrahat-II, Kulpi, Basanti, Gosaba and Canning-II blocks respectively.
